Will Manchester United allow Nani to leave Old Trafford? For Spain?
25-year old Portuguese international winger Nani might be on his way out os Manchester United. He has 18 months left to run on his current deal with United but has declined an extension that would have seen his weekly wage rise from £90,000 per week to around £130,000, Talksport reports. He is casting his eyes towards Barcelona and Madrid.
“My agent is waiting for news about United. We have presented a counter offer and now it depends what the club thinks.” Nani also stated that he would be willing to seek his fortune elsewhere after five years at Old Trafford. He has won a lot since joining the club, including the Premier league and the Champion’s league.
Maybe Nani is unsettled after a season which saw him often playing second fiddle to Antonio Valencia. He must also be aware that United were trying to sign Eden Hazard from Rennes, with whom he would have had to battle for a place in the starting line up. Another attacking midfielder is almost on his way to the club in the shape of Shinji Kagawa, with reports claiming that the deal with Borussia Dortmund is almost complete.
The question is, does Sir Alex Ferguson think enough of Nani to accede to his demands, or will he try to sign a replacement and let the player go?
If Nani has a good Euro 2012, there will be no shortage of teams willing to sign him, but he wants to win trophies. He could be a great attacking option for Barca.
