Of course it will be a concern to Luis Enrique, his players and everyone concerned with FC Barcelona that the team suffered their first defeat of the season last night. And the French champions PSG will be hard to dislodge from the top of the Champions League group after their 3-2 win at the Parc des Princes, but it is by no means a disaster.
We had an off night, especially at the back. The new keeper Ter Stegen had a nightmare between the posts and was directly responsible for at least one of their goals. And their opener came about after David Luiz took advantage of a few moments of madness from Dani Alves at right back. Maybe the usually reliable Brazilian was trying to make his international team mate feel better after that horror show in the World Cup semi-final against Germany.
What I am saying is that these things happen, but Barca fans should take heart from the fact that until last night, we had not conceded a single goal. The new boss is trying to stamp his own identity on the team and that does not happen overnight and sometimes leads to the odd bad result. In general it looks like he has got things going in the right direction.
And the two goals from Messi and Neymar were superb as was much of our forward play, so with Luis Suarez still to make his presence felt, there is no reason for Barcelona to worry too much about this result.
