Barcelona must score an away goal at PSG 0

Posted on April 02, 2013 by admin

Barcelona play the first leg of the Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes tonight, and they are determined to avoid the pressure that they put themselves under in the last round. The turnaround against AC Milan at the Nou camp was magnificent, but was always in danger because of Barca failing to score an away goal.

Towards the end against Milan, the Italian side had a few scoring chances which would have been a disaster, and it was not until Jordi Alba scored at the end that the result was secured. We must avoid that happening again, and the best way to do that is to score a goal tonight.

Despite having taken the Barcelona training session yesterday, Tito Vilanova was not in the dugout for the trip to Celta Vigo. He did pick the team, however, and obviously had the game against Paris Saint-Germain on his mind. David Villa, Iniesta, Busquets and Mascherano were on the bench, while injury and suspension meant that Puyol, Xavi, Alba and Valdes were unavailable. That meant a much weakened side, with some young players getting the chance to impress.

Starting Line Up;
Pinto
Alves, Bartra, Pique, Montoya
Song, Thiago, Fabregas
Alexis, Messi, Tello

Barcelona fans love David Villa, partly because of how he has fit into the club since his move from Valencia in the summer of 2010. His 23 goals during that first season at Barca included a fantastic curling shot that ensured victory over Manchester United in the champions league final. We also won La Liga and went on to lift the Spanish Supercup against Real Madrid and the club world cup.

Barcelona eased through into the next round of the Spanish cup this week, and David Villa scored twice against Alaves to register the 300th and 301st goals of his career. The 30-year old was delighted to reach the landmark, and there are signs that his relationship with the manager Tito Vilanova has improved, signalling that he could still play an important part in this season for the club.

David Villa could leave Barcelona in January! 1

If he does not start to get more game time with Barcelona, the Spanish international striker, David Villa, will seriously consider moving to another club in January. Villa feels that his performances in previous seasons, and the way he has come back from long term injury, deserves more than he has recently been getting from Barcelona coach Tito Vilanova.

It was revealed recently, that Doctors feared that Villa might actually lose his leg, and so you can understand the extreme caution with which he was re-introduced into the Barcelona team. It is three months now, however, and Villa is growing concerned about his role in Vilanova’s team. The 30-year old was an unused substitute in Moscow last night, which will have only added to his growing frustration.

Barcelona travelled to La Coruna yeterday to face Deportivo in the late kick off in La Liga. There was no chance of anybody getting tired and leaving early, however, as the two teams and a dodgy referee served up a pulsating encounter that left you breathless.

Barcelona set out to remove the problem of having no defenders and were at their attacking best, racing in to a 3-0 lead after just 17 minutes. Jordi Alba finished a slick move with a striker’s finish.

There are certain clubs who have got an awesome amount of spending power, much more than Barcelona even though Barca is a bigger club. Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is a Russian billionaire who began the modern trend of having a football club as a plaything.

Since taking over Chelsea in 2003, Abramovich has spent money like a man with no arms and holes in his pockets. The club have enjoyed great success in England since and finally picked up the coveted prize of the Champion’s league last season, enjoying massive amounts of luck as we well know.
