It is maybe just as well that Barcelona have already secured the Spanish title, because we have seen the team struggle at times without the magic of Lionel Messi, and the number 10 of Barca and Argentina may have suffered a relapse of his recent hamstring problems against Atletico Madrid last night.
The 25-year old goal machine will be hoping that he recovers in time for the next three games, because he is just four goals short of the record he set last season in La Liga of 50 goals. It was Messi himself who decided to come off and it was not spotted straight away, because Vilanova had already used his three substitutes. .....Read more here.......

The president and coach of Barcelona were firm and resolute in their intentions of not selling David Villa in the January transfer window, despite the 31-year old striker appearing only 15 times in La Liga, usually as a substitute, for an average of 40 minutes a game. Rosell and Vilanova have both stated that Villa is still an important part of their plans and will be a valuable part of the team, at least for the rest of the season. .....Read more here.......

Barcelona fans love David Villa, partly because of how he has fit into the club since his move from Valencia in the summer of 2010. His 23 goals during that first season at Barca included a fantastic curling shot that ensured victory over Manchester United in the champions league final. We also won La Liga and went on to lift the Spanish Supercup against Real Madrid and the club world cup. .....Read more here.......

The Barcelona game against Athletico Madrid was billed as the battle of the two strikers, Lionel Messi and Radamel Falcao, as well as the battle between the top two teams in the Spanish Primera Liga. After Real Madrid had surprised everyone by drawing with relegation threatened Espanyol earlier, it really was starting to look like Diego Simeone could be fighting it out with Vilanova for the title. .....Read more here.......

Barcelona host the second placed team in the Spanish Primera Liga tonight, and it is being billed as the battle of the top two strikers as well. Hardly surprising really, when you think that the two front men have scored more league goals this season than most of the teams in La Liga.
Messi already has an incredible 23 league goals, while Falcao is the closest to him with 16. That combined total of 39 is more than every other team in the league other than Barcelona, who have scored 50 times. Both players are in a rich vein of form, with Messi scoring twice in his last seven starts in Spain. Falcao smashed five goals in his last game, so we should be in for a cracker. .....Read more here.......

With Barcelona sitting at the top of the Spanish Primera Liga, six points ahead of Athletico Madrid and 11 points ahead of Real Madrid, not many people expect them to fail to regain the Spanish title this season. The Catalan giants also qualified top of their group in the Champions league and are still in the Copa Del Rey.
After achieving a record start to a league campaign, it is clear that the change of management from Pep Guardiola to Tito Vilanova is not going to have an adverse affect on Barca, although we have still to find out how they might cope under pressure. Vilanova is very calm and collected, though, he would obviously be an excellent poker player and I would be amazed if he crumbled. .....Read more here.......

Cesc Fabregas struggled to convince the Barcelona fans that he deserved his place in the starting line up after rejoining the club from Arsenal last summer. He has fared a lot better so far this season, cementing his place in the first team, starting all 15 league games, scoring five goals and providing 9 assists.
The 25-year old midfielder will have to sit out the next four weeks, however, after limping off the pitch during the weekend victory over Real Betis. The medical staff at Barcelona have revealed that he has torn the bicep femoris in his left thigh. .....Read more here.......
