David Villa has been getting increasingly frustrated with his lack of playing opportunities for FC Barcelona, so he will want to prove his worth against Cordoba tonight. After playing for just 50 minutes as a substitute in the last six league games, Villa will start in the Copa Del Rey tonight.
There will be a number of first team regulars who are not in the team, including Xavi, Iniesta, Pedro and Pique, who are all rested. Adriano has failed a fitness test so will also miss out. Messi is in the squad but may not start, which raises more questions about the relationship between the two strikers. It is more likely, however, that they occupy the same position so are not ideally suited to playing together, although they have done so with some success when Villa has played this season. .....Read more here.......

Tito Vilanova was back in the Barcelona dugout on Sunday for the first time since his operation to remove a tumour on his Parotid gland. The manager got a fantastic reception from the home crowd at the Nou camp, but he had already ststed that his treatment was ongoing and he would not be taking back total control from his assistant Jordi Roura.
That has become even more clear today after it was announced that Vilanova will not be on the bench tomorrow for the cup game against Cordoba. He will not even be in Spain, as he is flying to America to get some expert medical advice about his condition. .....Read more here.......

The Barcelona manger, Tito Vilanova, was full of praise for David Villa after Barcelona beat second division Cordoba away to almost seal progression to the next round of the Spanish version of the FA cup called the Copa Del Rey. It was the mercurial Lionel Messi who scored both the goals, but Vilanova was very impressed with Villa, whos opportunities have been limited since coming back from long term injury. .....Read more here.......
