Can BIG Barcelona win pressure Real Madrid before derby? 0

Posted on November 17, 2016 by admin

If things go the way of FC Barcelona this weekend in La Liga then Luis Enrique could see his side get back on top of the Spanish league table where most people connected with the Catalan club feel we belong and have gotten used to over the last 10 years or so.

We do not even need the current leaders Real Madrid to lose either, as long as the likes of Messi, Neymar and Suarez can get a good win at home to struggling Malaga, which is something you would generally think is pretty likely at the Camp Nou, especially as the team from Andalucia have let in six goals in their last two matches.

Why Barcelona MUST celebrate if they win La Liga 0

I have been reading reports that FC Barcelona are not planning any big celebrations for this season, even though they have their destiny in their own hands and just need to win today to retain the title of champions of Spain. But this is ridiculous.

In fact, the Catalans should possibly view this trophy as the best, because it was the hardest to come by. With all the problems and twists in this landmark season, for Barcelona to finish it as champions, ahead of the two Champions League finalists from Madrid, would be pretty amazing.

Barcelona MUST take advantage of Costa injury 0

The Champions League draw threw up a clash between the top two teams in La Liga, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, which many think will be the tie of the round. And the fact that Diego Simeone’s team play the second leg at their home ground gives them a slight advantage, with the Vicente Calderon being a notoriously hard place to go.

So Barcelona must make the most of the injury that Madrid’s powerful and prolific striker Diego Costa picked up in training yesterday. The Brazilian born forward would have caused Barca a major problem, especially without the unlucky Victor Valdes who is out for the season.

Messi aiming for Barcelona treble AND World Cup glory 0

There have been concerns raised in Spain about the form of Barcelona and Lionel Messi. As usual, the two are closely linked, even perhaps intrinsically linked, especially with new Brazilian star Neymar currently unavailable with his own injury problem.

People have pointed to the fact that Messi has not been playing quite the same role as usual, often dropping deeper and not making his trademark bursts into the penalty area. His goalscoring has certainly not been what we expect since he returned from a two month lay-off with a hamstring problem.

Should Barcelona be happy with draw at Atletico? 0

It was billed as the clash of the titans in La Liga and for good reason. It was only a superior goal difference that was keeping Barcelona above Atletico Madrid at the top of the Spanish league table. The fact that Atletico had home advantage as well and had only lost the two-legged Spanish Supercup on away goals, all pointed towards it being a very tough game.

Add to that the fact that Tata Martino had a selection headache, with two of the club’s best players, Lionel Messi and Neymar, as doubtful to start. The Barca boss has been criticised from some quarters in Spain for leaving the two stars on the bench, even though both did come in in the second half, but is that really fair?

Messi back with a Bang and 2 goals as Barcelona beat Getafe (with video) 0

Everything is starting to fall into place again for Barcelona after a tricky month or two for the Spanish champions. Unsurprisingly, the club’s struggles have coincided with the injury lay-off for the best player in the world, Lionel Messi.

So when he ran back onto the Nou Camp pitch last night with around half an hour to go, the Barca fans were delighted and the return of Messi has given the whole club a lift. Just in time as well, because this weekend sees the crunch La Liga clash with Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon stadium.

Messi and Neymar steer Barcelona to 6th La Liga win [with highlights] 0

The rest of La Liga and the top clubs in Europe were given a warning by Barcelona last night, as they beat the club who finished fourth last season, Real Sociedad, without really breaking sweat. The combination play between Messi, Neymar and the rest of the Barcelona team is getting better all the time and starting to look potentially devastating.

To be honest, both of the star strikers were a bit wasteful in front of goal last night, or the 4-1 scoreline would have been a lot heavier. But the fact Neymar scored his first La Liga goal to give Barca the lead, and Messi got the second meant they had scored in the same game for the first time, but it certainly won’t be the last.

Valdes and Pedro star as Barcelona keep 100 percent record 1

The president of FC Barcelona has spoken a few times about having a talk with Victor Valdes and trying to get the 31-year old keeper to change his mind about leaving at the end of the season. After another stunning performance from the Spanish international on Saturday, I am hoping even more than before that he is successful.

Valdes saved a penalty for the second game in a row. At that point, Rayo Vallecano were only 1-0 behind, and Valdes had already made a couple of good saves. The penalty save was fantastic, though, as Trashorras struck it very well and could not believe the Barca stopper got his hand to it.
