Posted on June 12, 2016 by admin

Barcelona’s Lionel Messi may have been returning from injury and not on top form, but he is still irrestistible! The little genius started on the bench in Argentina’s game against Panama yesterday, but with the score at 1-0 after an hour he was finally given his debut at this year’s Copa America.

Half an hour later the score was 5-0 and Messi had got a hat-trick and an assist for Kun Aguero. Watch and weep Panamanians!

Magic Messi gets fantastic 400th goal to fire Barcelona top of La Liga 0

Recent media reports suggesting that the Barcelona and Argentina international Lionel Messi had lost his way and was not the same player that set that amazing scoring record a couple of years ago, seem to have been a bit premature, if not downright disrespectful and short sighted.

Messi proved his critics wrong once again on Saturday, bagging another brace to help Barcelona regain their place at the top of Spain’s La Liga table. He also provided two assists as Barca ran riot and beat Granada by 6-0 in front of the delighted Nou Camp crowd. Not only did little Leo make it five goals from six league games so far this season, but his first of the two goal made the remarkable record of 400 goals for club and country. And that does not even count the goals he scored for the Barca B team when he was a teenager breaking through.

All the fans and staff of FC Barcelona can now breathe a sigh of relief, because Lionel Messi has played his final game of the season and will now have some time to rest and recuperate before returning to the Nou Camp for pre-season training. He marked his last game of the season with a hat-trick as Argentina beat Guatemala 4-0 in an international friendly.

The little flea was not 100 percent by any stretch of the imagination and only played for just over an hour, but he did not make his injury problems any worse and, as we know, a partly fit Messi can still give opposing team’s defenders nightmares. See video highlights below.

Barcelona are resigned to losing their number one goalkeeper after Victor Valdes told club officials that he will not renew his current deal which expires in 2014. The number two choice, Jose Manuel Pinto, is staying at the Nou Camp, however. He signed a short term extension which also lasts until 2014, when he will be 39-years old. He has been with Barca since 2008, and offers stability when called upon.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has often found fault with various aspects of FC Barcelona since he left under a cloud in 2010. The Swedish striker has blamed Pep Guardiola, Lionel Messi and other things for his failure to make a real success of his time in Catalonia, but he seems to be finally mellowing. Sweden and Argentina meet in a friendly game tonight, and Ibra has been saying very nice things about Messi before they meet on the pitch in Stockholm.

“Leo is a fantastic player. Individually, surely he is the best in the world. It is needless for me to say it. Many people agree, and that is why he has won so many awards in recent seasons.”

Xavi and Messi look to reach Barcelona records against Celtic 0

It seems as if the Argentinean striker, Lionel Messi, breaks a new record every time he plays and tomorrow against Celtic in the champions league could mark another milestone or two for the striker.

Xavi Hernandez, if he plays tomorrow, will become the first Barcelona player to appear in 150 international club games. It will also put him joint sixth with Roberto Carlos in the all time list that is headed by Paolo Maldini with 181.

The 32-year old still has years to move up the list, as proved by the 38-year old Manchester United player Ryan Giggs who is just ahead of Xavi with 151 games.

Barcelona players star for Spain and Argentina 0

players from FC Barcelona took to the fore in last night’s World Cup Qualifying campaign. Spain were on sparkling form away to Russia and they took complete control, winning 4-0.

The first goal came from a sublime passage of play ending in Xavi, a flick from Pedro to Jordi Alba who went round the keeper and finished smartly. It was a goal made in Barcelona for sure.

Pedro continued his good performance netting a hat-trick with three excellent finishes. Xavi and Cesc Fabregas played brilliant passes to put him through on goal. Pedro was very modest after the game, saying you needed a good team around you and some luck to score three goals.
