Martino warns Barcelona rivals – Messi is Back!! 0

Posted on November 08, 2013 by admin

Lionel Messi ended his mini goal drought on Wednesday with a Champions League double which helped Barcelona to beat AC Milan in Italy. The win not only ensured the club’s qualification for the knockout stages of the competition with two games to spare, but it seemed to mark the return to form of the little Argentine genius.

Both Messi himself and his manager Tata Martino have been talking about the situation, and it seems that the 26-year old is very close to being back to his best. To be fair, it was hardly a crisis in the first place, especially when you consider that he has had injury problems since last season.

Can Messi find scoring boots to put Barcelona through vs. Milan? 0

All eyes will be on the Barcelona and Argentina star striker Lionel Messi tonight. It is ridiculous really to be talking about a goal drought with Messi. and he has already scored 12 goals this season, but a few games without a goal and the Spanish media are calling it a crisis.

The 26-year old is not on his best form and has not been since the niggling thigh problem caused him to miss a few games earlier in the season, but it is just a matter of time. Messi himself and his manager Tata Martino have been open about the situation, but they insist there is nothing else behind it and the goals will soon start to flow again.

Messi admits he’s not fit but Pedro backs him to star for Barcelona 0

Because Lionel Messi is such a fantastic player, and because Barcelona base all of their playing style around him, even when he is not fully fit, he usually plays. The player himself has admitted that he not firing on all cylinders, but believes that as he keeps playing, he will gain that full 100 percent match sharpness and get back to his best.

Messi was not very influential at all as Barca toiled to a 1-0 victory over local rivals Espanyol on Friday, but Messi does not believe that the fans have anything to worry about, as he declared via social media while celebrating the first birthday of his son Thiago on Saturday.

Barcelona were not at their best last night by any means, but there are plenty of positives to be taken from the game, not least the fact that it keeps the Spanish champions firmly on top of their Champions League group. The manager Tata Martino thought that his team deserved to win and, on balance of play, he is right, but it could have been worse.

Vilanova could be crucial for Barcelona v PSG 0

Barcelona have not lost many games since Jordi Roura took over as the stand-in coach while Tito Vilanova went to New York for extensive treatment after his cancer surgery. There was a steady lessening of intensiti, however, and when the crucial run of games against Real Madrid and AC Milan came around, Barca produced their worst performances of the season.

That meant a semi-final exit from the Spanish cup, and very nearly an exit from the Champions League, denying us the chance to be the first team ever to win two continental trebles. The Primera Liga title is still firmly on course, though, and a fifth European cup to go with the 22nd league title would surely erase the disappointment.

Tito will soon be back with Barcelona 0

After surviving a real scare in the Champions League, the Barcelona players are looking forward to having the coach Tito Vilanova back in charge for the quarter-final stage. There has been speculation that the team have missed the coach and his absence was part of the reason for the poor recent form.

It was bound to have an effect, and the players are relieved as much as happy that they were able to produce a fantastic comeback against AC Milan. In La Liga, Tito’s absence has not really been a big factor, because the players know their opposition well and have been like a runaway train, but the European games are different, as are Clasico encounters with Real Madrid.

It seemed like the football world was waiting to pronounce the last rites on Barcelona. There was talk of the end of an era, and suggestions that opposition teams had worked out how to play against Barcelona and nullify the system. Well that didn’t work last night, as Barcelona ruthlessly battered AC Milan into submission using the same tried and tested system as usual.

The difference last night was that Barcelona played well, whereas against Real Madrid and Milan recently, they had not. So, basically, the way to beat Barcelona is for them to play badly, or to be really lucky like Chelsea last season. People say Barca have no plan B, but the system and the players they use mean that there is lots of flexibility in the team that is on the pitch.

Xavi is fit, Villa and Puyol could start for Barcelona v AC Milan 0

The brain of Barcelona is back, and hopefully reinvigorated after his break. Barca will need Xavi Hernandez to be back to his best at the Nou Camp tonight if they are to get to the next round of the Champions League. The midfield maestro has been passed fit by medical experts after recovering from his hamstring problem. Many believe that Barca’s recent problems can be traced back to Xavi’s absence and the fact that he was not at 100 percent before.
