We have a few dates to look forward to in the coming season. Barcelona start the campaign at home against Real Sociedad, while Real Madrid have tougher opponents in Valencia. The first Clasico will be at the Nou Camp on October 7th. The match at the Bernabeu will be held on March 3rd.
The Spanish football authorities have pardoned Jose Mourinho and Tito Vilanova for the incident during a cup game when Mourinho put his finger in the eye of Vilanova who was then Guardiola’s assistant. Vilanova reacted and both were due to miss a couple of games.
Barca are extremely unhappy as Mourinho has now got away with an unprovoked attack. If this was a player on the pitch he would have faced a lengthy ban. This just reinforces Barcelona’s sense of injustice but there is nothing they can do. That whole game was played in the meanest spirit possible by Mourinho’s Madrid but they escaped again.
Seydou Keita has decided to use the clause in his contract and leave Barcelona to join Chinese side Dalian Aerbin for a reported 10 million euros a season. This makes the signing of Javi Martinez from Athletic Bilbao even more desirable. Back room staff at Barcelona are doing all they can to facilitate the move.
Jordi Alba has already completed his move to the Nou Camp. It is a fantastic addition for Barcelona, and the talented left back has stated his determination to win trophies with Barca. Unfortunately, Alba will be going to the Olympics with Spain so we will be praying for no injuries.
Finally, congratulations to Andres Iniesta. The player of Euro 2012 married Anna Ortiz at Tamarit castle in Tarragona, in a ceremony attended by many stars of the football world.
