Barcelona injury boost on Neymar ankle and Messi fitness 0

Posted on January 17, 2014 by admin

Barcelona traveled to play Getafe in the second leg of the Copa Del Rey clash last night and Tata Martino could have been forgiven for sending out a team of youngsters and fringe players as they were already ahead 4-0 from the first leg at the Nou Camp.

At the end of the game, which Barca won comfortably 2-0, the manager may have wished that he had. Halfway through the first half, the Brazilian superstar Neymar, just back from a spell on the sidelines with illness, went over on his right ankle and slow motion replays did not look good.

Everything is starting to fall into place again for Barcelona after a tricky month or two for the Spanish champions. Unsurprisingly, the club’s struggles have coincided with the injury lay-off for the best player in the world, Lionel Messi.

So when he ran back onto the Nou Camp pitch last night with around half an hour to go, the Barca fans were delighted and the return of Messi has given the whole club a lift. Just in time as well, because this weekend sees the crunch La Liga clash with Atletico Madrid at the Vicente Calderon stadium.

Puyol and Alves to make Barcelona returns in Copa Del Rey 0

The Barcelona manager can pretty much do whatever he wants tonight. With Cartagena coming to the Nou Camp for the second leg of the cup clash already 4-1 behind from the first leg, Tata Martino has the luxury of resting players, but it is the players who will play that are making the news.

It seems as if club captain Carles Puyol and first choice right back Dani Alves will both make their comebacks from injury tonight. Hopefully they will both gain the match sharpness they need to be considered for the more important La Liga games to come.

Clasico referee is Bad news for Barcelona 0

Posted on October 25, 2013 by admin

There have been some very one sided clashes between Barcelona and Real Madrid down the years, but the match the Spanish call El Clasico is more often than not a hard fought and close contest. Because of this, the fierce rivalry between the two clubs and the fact that the result is usually crucial to the outcome of a season or the winner of a trophy, the referee has to be strong and good at his job.

Bartra to stay as Barcelona abandon defender transfer pursuit 0

Barcelona have just over a week left to sign any more players before the transfer window closes. The big surprise for many fans and football experts, is that the Spanish champions have not bought another top class central defender, because that seemed to be the weakest area of the team last season and led to the perceived disappointment in the Champions League and Copa Del Rey.

Barcelona must be ready for a stronger challenge from Real Madrid 0

There may have been disappointments for FC Barcelona in the Champions League and the Copa Del Rey last season, going out of both at the semi-final stage to Bayern Munich and Real Madrid respectively, but they both came at the weakest point of the season. Barca were suffering from a loss of form and numerous players had injuries and fatigue.

The true study of a team’s quality comes in the league, and Barcelona won La Liga handsomely, equalling the highest ever points total and finishing a massive 15 points ahead of the great rivals Real Madrid. However, we should not expect Madrid to be so poor this season.

Barcelona seal Neymar deal- Now for some Steel 0

The Brazilian star Neymar put pen to paper today on a five year deal with FC Barcelona. It is great news for the club and the Barca fans, but is only the first transfer deal in what is likely to be a busy summer at the Nou Camp.

Barca have certainly got a few issues to address during this transfer window. This might sound strange for a team that is on the verge of equalling the highest ever points total in La Liga, but the players and coaching staff at the club will be well aware that the season should have been better.

Barcelona close in on Neymar transfer 0

It was reported in the Spanish media last week that the Brazilian striker Neymar’s move to FC Barcelona could be in jeopardy. It is thought that an agreement has been in place between the Spanish champions, Neymar and his current club Santos for some time, but representatives of Real Madrid went to Brazil offering ridiculous sums of money to try to hijack the transfer.

This appears to have sparked officials at Barca into action, according to Mundo Deportivo. They have apparently decided to push the transfer forward rather than wait until next summer and are already in Brazil to negotiate this, the paper reports.
