Barcelona boosted as Messi ends season with Argentina hat-trick(with highlights) 0

Posted on June 15, 2013 by admin

All the fans and staff of FC Barcelona can now breathe a sigh of relief, because Lionel Messi has played his final game of the season and will now have some time to rest and recuperate before returning to the Nou Camp for pre-season training. He marked his last game of the season with a hat-trick as Argentina beat Guatemala 4-0 in an international friendly.

The little flea was not 100 percent by any stretch of the imagination and only played for just over an hour, but he did not make his injury problems any worse and, as we know, a partly fit Messi can still give opposing team’s defenders nightmares. See video highlights below.

Barcelona and Argentina threatened with Messi Burnout 0

There are fears that the toll of playing too many games too often for Barcelona and Argentina could catch up with Lionel Messi and make him either unavailable or below par for his club and his country at a crucial time. We saw this season in La Liga and the Champions League how much Barca miss the little genius when he is injured or not at his best, so this is a real concern.

Barcelona talk to Dortmund about Lewandowski transfer 0

Posted on June 13, 2013 by admin

If the stories are true about FC Barcelona and Robert Lewandowski, Barca could soon have the most fearsome forward line ever assembled in the world of football. With the not inconsiderable skills of Neymar already adding to those of the best player in the world Lionel Messi, signing Lewandowski would seem to be simply unfair on the rest of Europe.

Officials and staff at the Nou Camp are clearly concerned about the struggles the club had in the Champions League last season. Following shock defeats to Celtic and AC Milan, we nearly went out to PSG before Bayern Munich produced the astonishing 7-0 aggregate defeat in the semi-final.

Guardiola could rescue Abidal after Barcelona exit 0

Posted on June 12, 2013 by admin

One of the best moments of the season for FC Barcelona and everyone concerned with the club was when Eric Abidal made his return to the pitch. It was emotional in the extreme but, unfortunately for the French defender, when the decision had to be made about the future it was decided to let him go.

The club felt that he had been out of the game too long and was too old to recover and play a useful part in the team. This was exacerbated by the defensive frailties on show this season and the need to rebuild with a new look back four. Barca therefore offered Abidal a position behind the scenes in order to keep him at the club, but the 33-year old is desperate to play on and so is looking for another club.

Villa could still stay at Barcelona after Malaga game 0

Posted on June 03, 2013 by admin

Barcelon signed off their final La Liga game of the season in fine style, blasting past Manuel Pellegrini’s Malaga 4-1. There was some fantastic skill on show at the Nou Camp, and much of it came from two players whose futures are thought to be less than secure at the club, Cesc Fabregas and David Villa.

Barcelona target 100 points and say Adios to Abidal 0

Posted on June 01, 2013 by admin

It is going to be an emotional evening at the Nou Camp tonight as FC Barcelona play host to Malaga in the final La Liga game of the season. Eric Abidal has not been offered an extension to his playing contract with the club, although he made it clear he wanted to continue to play. He has been offered a position with the coaching staff, but the 33-year old feels he still has something to offer so will seek another club.

Villa to leave Barcelona with Arsenal favourites to sign him 0

The arrival at Barcelona this week of the young Brazilian striker Neymar from Santos was the final nail in the coffin for David Villa and his career at the Nou Camp. It is a real shame that we did not see the best of him due to the injury he picked up playing in the Club World Cup in Japan at the beginning of 2012. That injury nearly ended his career, but he has recovered and is still a top transfer target, especially as Barca only want around £12 million for him.

Barcelona seal Neymar deal- Now for some Steel 0

The Brazilian star Neymar put pen to paper today on a five year deal with FC Barcelona. It is great news for the club and the Barca fans, but is only the first transfer deal in what is likely to be a busy summer at the Nou Camp.

Barca have certainly got a few issues to address during this transfer window. This might sound strange for a team that is on the verge of equalling the highest ever points total in La Liga, but the players and coaching staff at the club will be well aware that the season should have been better.
