Victor Valdes has decided not to renew his contract as goalkeeper of Barcelona, so the Catalan club will have to look for a new number one, although there is no emergency at the minute. Valdes has spoken about trying another country and culture as he has been at Barca since he was a 13-year old and will have played over 500 games for the club by the end of the season.
Barcelona may choose to get a replacement in as soon as possible, or at least bring a new keeper in and prepare them for the number one spot next season. According to Talksport, the Swansea City keeper Michel Vorm has been targeted as the man who could replace Valdes. At 29-years old, Vorm is 2 years younger than Valdes and has lots of experience, although he has only won nine caps for Holland.
Vorm has established himself as one of the best keepers in the English Premier league since joining the Welsh club from Utrecht in 2011. The club have recently agreed a new contract with the Dutchman which lasts until 2016, so he would not be cheap, but Barca could easily persuade Swansea to do a deal, and surely Vorm would like the chance to play at the Nou camp. As Swansea have not been in Europe, he would be free to play in the Champions league if necessary.
